## End of Life Definition

The End of Life (EOL) for a player series occurs in three phases:

- End of hardware sales
- End of support for the player OS
- End of support for the player in BrightSign Author

These phases will be implemented as follows for Series 3 players, which include the LS3, HD3, XD3, XT3, HS3, and HO player families. For more information about Series 3 player models, see the [Model & Series Reference](docId:4ArbVudc4Bg08GkVeuXWa) page.

### End of Hardware Sales

Series 3 players have been End of Hardware Sales since the end of 2018, so these products are no longer being manufactured and there is no stock available.

- Series 3 players that have a hardware failure must be replaced with an equivalent Series 5 replacement player at full price
- Support will *not* troubleshoot Series 3 hardware issues as there is no possibility of resolution. Customers calling about a Series 3 hardware issue will be redirected to their BrightSign distributor or reseller.

### End of Support for the Player OS

In June 2025, BrightSign released the BOS 9.1 branch for Series 3, 4, 5 and 6 players.

- This is the last OS branch that will support Series 3 players.
- BrightSign will continue to add new capabilities and bug fixes in BOS 9.1 for Series 3 players, as well as support previous OS versions for major bug and security fixes. Once development begins on a higher branch, it will mark the end of development for Series 3. When this occurs, we will update the [End of Life (EOL) Policy](docId\:E8VPRXJdcSG_jJlVZSwhl) page with that information.
- After this period, Series 3 OS related support requests will *not* be resolved by support. Users will have to work with the last BOS 9.1 version until their Series 3 players are removed from circulation.
- Any OS beyond 9.1 will *not* include support for any Series 3 players. Users will have to remain with the 9.1 branch and can continue to use their players until BrightSign can no longer support them in the cloud or in BrightSign Author, whichever comes first. Partners may continue to support these models in their application, but it is at their discretion.
- BrightSign reserves the right to remove support in the cloud and in BrightSign Author at any point beyond the end of OS support.

This End of Life announcement the last communication about this topic. Owners of Series 3 players are encouraged to upgrade their players to avoid any service disruptions.

### End of Player Support in BrightSign Author

BrightSign Author will continue to support Series 3 players until BrightSign removes support after the EOL date. Older versions of BrightSign Author can be used to create presentations, but changes to our cloud infrastructure may require that we remove support for Series 3 players sooner. Users are encouraged to start removing these players from circulation.

- Only existing BrightSign Author functionality for Series 3 players will be supported.
- No new BrightSign Author features will be ported to Series 3 players.
- Requests for new features, bug fixes and other issues will *not* be addressed.

## Series 3 Players Phase out

We encourage customers to phase out Series 3 players by April 2026. Customers can continue to use the players for as long as they like, but are responsible for the risks associated with using Series 3 players without support or updates.

## FAQ

### What does Player OS End of Support mean for Series 3 players?

BSN.Cloud will support Series 3 players with the understanding that no new features and limited bug fixes will be available for those players. Customers can continue to use Series 3 players until they are removed from BrightSign Author (the final End of Life phase).

### Where can I find out about the End of Life of Series 3 Firmware?

EOL details will be available in the [Downloads](https://www.brightsign.biz/resources/software-downloads/) section of our website.

### What is the End of Life process for Series 3?

1. Hardware production and sales of Series 3 players ended in late 2018. No further product stock is available. Players that have been purchased will still function and will be supported until the next EOL phases occur.
2. BrightSign OS Series 3 support ends with the 9.1 branch. This means that there will be no further OS development for Series 3 players after version 9.1. All 9.1 builds will include builds for Series 3 players (players whose model number end in the number 3).
3. The final phase is the end of support for Series 3 players in BrightSign Author and BSN.Cloud. Series 3 players will be removed from BrightSign Author in December 2026, unless cloud support ends before that date. BrightSign reserves the right to end support of Series 3 players anytime after the end of OS support.

### Can I still email support with Series 3 questions?

Yes, we will provide limited support through reasonable insight and older OS versions on request. Software feature requests or feature updates to BOS or BrightSign Author will not be supported.
