Proxy Servers
This page / section pertains to BrightAuthor Classic, our legacy app. BrightSign Author is our latest app for managing content and players.
Development of BrightAuthor Classic has largely ceased and the app will eventually be deprecated and replaced with BrightSign Author.
To configure BrightSign players to connect through a proxy server using BrightAuthor Classic, set up the server during the player setup process (in Tools > Setup A Unit > Advanced Network Setup). If you need to provide a user name and password for the proxy, you can enter it using this format: <user name>:<password>@<proxy server address> (for example, admin:[email protected]).
If the password contains a special character (for example, p@ssword), validation will fail. Use the ASCII equivalent for the special character instead (for example, p%40ssword). See https://www.urlencoder.org/ for ASCII conversions.
A proxy server can also be set manually using a script.
