this section describes the characteristics and operation of all connectors on xs156 players ethernet the xs156 provides an ieee 802 3 lan interface supporting 10/100/1000 base t operation magnetics are not included and must be provided on the host pcb two led outputs are provided for lan status indication power connector the xs156 operates from a single input supply at nominal 12v 3a (+/ 10%) a remote shutdown input is provided hdmi output the xs156 provides an hdmi 2 0 compatible uhd 4k output consisting of four tmds lanes (three data lanes plus one clock lane), hot plug detect input, a ddc i²c bus, and a cec bus the ddc i²c lines are pulled up to +3 3v internally, will tolerate 5v signaling, and have isolation fets to protect against back driving when a brightsign built in is powered down gpio the gpio signals operate at 3 3v cmos levels note that unlike the “phoenix” gpio port on self contained brightsign players, the gpio signals on a brightsign built in are unbuffered and caution should be used when exposing them to external devices ir input / output ir out the brightsign built in provides a modulated signal on an open collector output, which can drive an infrared led directly alternatively, this signal can be pulled up to +3 3v externally and used as a logic output ir in a modulated input signal is accepted at standard 3 3v cmos logic levels uart/serial a single uart is provided, supporting operation at up to 115200bps using 3 3v cmos levels an external level translator must be provided if interoperability with eia 232 signaling is needed we highly recommend implementing a serial port on the board because it is the primary mechanism for troubleshooting the device audio connector the brightsign built in provides a stereo line level analog audio output and a digital audio output compatible with iec 61937, as well as embedded audio carried over the hdmi link these audio outputs can operate independently of each other usb the brightsign built in provides one usb a 2 0 (high speed) host port and a switched +5v power rail capable of sourcing up to 1a the power supply is internally protected against short circuit and over current wifi & antennas there is a k eyed m 2 connector for wifi/bluetooth pcba buttons two inputs are provided for front button controls these are intended for connecting a momentary action push switch between the module pin and ground reset button if the reset button# line is pulled low for less than 2 seconds, an orderly system reset is initiated under software control at the rising edge of the signal if the reset button# line is pulled low for more than 6 seconds, an immediate hard reset is performed the reset button# line is pulled up internally to +3 3v through anywhere between 10k and 50k and can be left as an open circuit if not required svc button the svc button# line provides a variety of functions under software control sdio the brightsign built in provides one sd card interface capable of uhs 1 operation at up to ddr50 transfer rates a +3 3v power supply is provided for the card this power supply can be switched on and off by the firmware, allowing it to power cycle the sd card
